I have always wanted a big, long front porch – to sit in rocking chairs, drink lemonade in the summer and hot cider in the fall, and gaze out into something beautiful. Well, we got lucky with this one. Here is the view from our new front porch:
So, obviously, we have to decorate this porch so we can enjoy this amazing view! First task was to find a rocking chair, something I think every front porch needs. So, I came across one at a garage sale and got it for $35. Not too shabby! It was just repaired and ready for paint (I like it even more!) Since I had made some pillows from this fun outdoor fabric, I decided to select my colors around that. Here is the fabric of inspiration:
So, since my favorite color is purple, I immediately picked that out from the fabric design and went with it. I used exterior eggshell Behr paint – goes on like butter! (This is the first appearance of Duke, our 6-year-old German Shorthair Pointer, who is our detective, sniffing the new paint.)
Next, I found this cool bamboo chair at another garage sale for $5! Very sturdy, wide, and unique. Since I love bright colors, I did this one in red and just used spray paint.
Since the red spray paint worked so well, I decided to brighten up this dull -but awesome- metal cart I also found at a garage sale (Did I mention we LOVE garage sales?!). This cart has a vintage feel (may even actually be vintage) and the top lifts off to use as a tray, which will be perfect for bringing to and from the kitchen for outdoor porch snacks and meals.
I found some neutral cushions for each chair, and now we wait for the finished product! Coming as soon as we move in (waiting, waiting, waiting….)
**UPDATE!** We are finally in and getting settled at the new house after a crazy moving experience you can read about here. I finally was able to set up my first project for the new house. Here is the final product! Sigh….
